(I graduated with four minors: English, History, Political Science, and P.E... no major, just minors.) Anyway, we took turns setting pins. Keep in mind we were all girls setting pins in a world where we were too delicate to have more than a two step dribble in basketball. Being on the short side, it was a challenge. Re: Thank you, Tony DURAN ('55) for the war films. I hope to see you and Sylvia PLUMB Duran ('56) at Club 40. -Karen COLE Correll ('55) ~ in smoky Nine Mile Falls, WA where instead of nice beefsteak slicer tomatoes, I have all mismarked Romas grrr. I lived there in 1961-'62 and it was strange seeing Diamond Head so clearly without the city skyscraper hotels in the forefront and the vintage cars. As I put my flag out this morning I thought of those who lost their lives in that terrible war, on both sides, and say a silent prayer for the families whose grief never dies. Thank you Tony, -Diane AVEDOVECH ('56) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Carl DVORAK ('58) Re: Bowling Alley I went to work setting pins when I was 15. Leo Rollick and Bill Vosper were co-owners of the bowling alley and when they sold it Bill Vosper built and owned the Atomic Lanes down on Wellsian Way. My mentors when I learned to set pins were Johnny KING ('56) and George BOWLS ('55). They showed me how to pick up 2 pins in one hand by crossing the necks and to always put the pins in the rack before returning the ball to the bowler if they didn't get a strike. If you sent the ball back to the bowler they would get the ball and try to pick up the spare before you were out of the pit. I remember setting pins with Thurman BOWLS ('56) and I think David BOWLS ('58) also set pins. My dad, Joe Dvorak, worked some nights in both the bowling alley and in the pool room for A.J. Foisy who owned the bowling alley and pool room before Bill and Leo bought it. -Carl DVORAK ('58) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Patti McLAUGHLIN ('65) Re: Class of '65 ~ 50 YEAR Reunion Last minute reminder - our monumental 50 YEAR Reunion is NEXT weekend, August 21-23.
