Re: Mr. Pappas

To: Karl BUCHOLZ ('54)

Thanks for the info about Mr. Pappas. He was really a great
mentor of mine. I'm the last of the living trumpet trio that
played at the Mendez consert that year. What a thrill.

Lots of good times with our school dance band also.

I wished that I could make the Club 40 reunion, but because of
mrdical problems, I will not be able to make it.

It was also sad to hear about Fred SUCKOWS's ('55-RIP) passing.

May all our Bomber family be blessed,
-Tony DURAN ('55)

Re: 8/26 Alumni Sandstorm

HI Maren, You are quite the editor! Caught me with the fire
video watched every minute with my finger on the pause so I
could read the posters and written things ... (the fires
compared to Seattle size). It's taking out some of the most
beautiful country around, I must admit I shed more than one
tear. Then you end the paper with the joy of Mattingly ('60)
fireworks. Isn't it amazing when fire is out of control it is
so ugly and then when it is "tamed" and kept in control by the
professionals it is just WoW!

Emoji (me crying and laughing all at once)

You always do good but this "took the cake!" Thanks

 love ya -A

[It's all the different entries that make the Alumni Sandstorm
so much fun... and why I still love it after all these years.
Larry MATTINGLY's ('60) entry with the fireworks display at the
Tilikum Crossing just happened to arrive the same day as
"Pray for Washington" video on YouTube sent by John ADKINS ('62).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDdm3KGPFLU - I'm still seeing
the car driving down the highway with 2 (or 3?) horses running
alongside the car. -Maren]

Re: Joan CAMPBELL Hinkle ('57-RIP)

Maren, I didn't see a notice about my sister's passing or
that the service is at Sunset Event Center today [8/27] at 2pm.
Did I overlook it?

[You didn't overlook anything, John... my error... I
didn't make the note in the right place for it to be
in the 8/27 Sandstorm. Bomber apologies. -Maren]

Re: Okanogan Fire Complex

To: Susie GUNDERSON Chiles ('60)

So glad to read your entry in the 8/27/15 Sandstorm that you
and your family are safe from the fire. We're starting to hear
from people who live in that area as well. My daughter, living
in Wenatchee, tells me how smokey it is there as well. We are
getting a good wind today and wouldn't you believe it, the smoke
is STILL with us. Here, we were hoping that the smoke would
dissipate. Oh well, we've nothing compared to you guys up there.

-Carol CONVERSE Maurer (Magic Class of '64) ~ Kennewick
Prayers are still be said by all.

Re: Fires

My cousin, Mike DeMERS('67) lives in Omak and is safe... he
hasn't had to evacuate, but has been prepared, just in case.

My niece, Arin Reining (NAB - daughter of Tim ('71wb-RIP) and
Neila CULVERHOUSE Reining ('73)) and a friend of hers, Angela
Zilar, who runs Tri-Cities Animal Rescue, are in Chewelah,
helping with animal rescue... they had a small caravan of
trucks from the Tri-Cities/Benton City, bringing loads of hay
and other supplies to help in the evacuation and rescue of
animals that are in harm's way.

Re: and the b-days keepa comin'

I dunno bout you but I can fall asleep anywhere and any time...
there are so many pix of me asleep in those little folding
chairs at car shows next to the drag strip, under the band
stand and many other noisy places I can't count em... but lemme
lay down to go to sleep on purpose... and bingo... I remember
everything I forgot during the day and can solve the mystery of
life... so I been seeing a scripshun medicine that makes these
little furry things stop bothering you so you can go to sleep
(had no idea there were little furry things causing me to stay
awake)... but... if you take it... you may wake up and kill
yerself, wake up paralyzed or wake up and remember nothing bout
the nite before... well I been paralyzed and it sucks... and as
for not remembering what I did the nite before... I did that all
the years I drank... think I'll just lye there and solve the
world's problems as I have been... so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Gary
BEHYMER ('64) on your special day, August 28, 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!
