By golly! Another double play. That's right, boys and girls;
it's a Bomber Babe twofer. What could be better, well, since
this is a "G" rated paper...

At any rate, I went to school with both of them, and through
some fluke, I even graduated with them... don't remember having
the same classes with them, but I did spend some time with one
of them at the North Star Theater (we both worked there).

Therefore, a double tip of the ol' propeller beanie and an extra
loud "Happy Birthday!" shout for both Jan BON DURANT and Regina
Williams (both '54) on this special day. Remember, girls, you've
both just turned 21 so be responsible.

-Bob Carlson, aka Mike CLOWES ('54) ~ Mount Angel, OR where
last week's monsoon was a bust, but we're waiting for
       next weekend.

>>From: David DOUGLAS ('62)

My wife and I (and son) are finally fulfilling a retirement goal
– to see the autumn leaves in New England. We're spending a week
at a resort in New Hampshire. We were expecting rainy weather,
but it's been sunny with a few clouds, and it's comfortable
outside during the day without a coat. Yesterday we drove to
Portland, Maine, so my wife could have a real Maine lobster
dinner on the waterfront. Today we took a scenic train ride.

Our plane was almost two hours late leaving Phoenix Thursday.
First, it was 50 minutes late arriving from Los Angeles. Then we
sat on the runway approach for over an hour because the plane
was too heavy to take off in the heat. We had fuel to get to
Boston, hold at Boston if the weather was bad, fly to our
alternate airport if we couldn't land, plus 45 minutes required
by federal law. Finally they siphoned off the fuel to hold at
Boston, but we still had to wait until the temperature dropped
to 40 degrees C. We were supposed to arrive in Boston a little
after 11pm, but didn't arrive until just before 1am. We dozed
off at the airport until we had breakfast, then picked up our
rental car at 9am. The drive to our resort accommodations in New
Hampshire was easy, the only hairy part was getting out of
Boston.

It's been a warm autumn in the Northeast, so only a few trees
have changed color, but it's still a sight to see.

-David DOUGLAS ('62) ~ temporarily in Franconia, NH –
temperature was in the high 50s today, mostly sunny

To: Leoma COLES ('63)

Leoma, I was in Lincoln City and Depoe Bay last week with my
college roommates celebrating our 70th!! One has a timeshare at
Wyndham. We watched many gray whales offshore from our patio
while sampling many vodka flavors!!! We ate delicious food at
Mo's and The Side Door and sat on the beach. Had I known you
were there in a shop Leoma, I would have stopped to say hi. Had
a great time looking in shops and such beautiful weather but I
didn't find a Lincoln City glass ball... bought a glass ball
ornament at Goodwill!! A clerk said 20 were put out on the
weekend and we saw them for sale in shops for $40. Someday I
will find one on the beach!!!
