Re: NE and Fall colors

I have long wished I could be in the NE to see the beautiful
colors of the maples in the NE. My long time friend (as I'm
still reticent about calling ourselves 'old') lived and grew up
in the NE and witnessed those wonderful Autumns although he
tells me that they were short lived. So I thoroughly enjoy the
spectrum of Autumn colors of the sweet gum trees that line so
much of the streets of our Northwest cities which often last a
month or longer. Right now we live and among and around the
corridors of sweet gum trees with the rustic reds, yellows and
vivid greens all on the same tree that line the streets. I have
taken numerous pictures but capturing what the eye sees and
experiences is often more difficult than I originally thought,
so now the memory has to do. In any case, David, I wish you and
your family many wonderful memories of the Fall in the
Northeast.

I have been in NEW England several times over the years,
including a 2 week driving vacation there in 1970 when we had a
lobster dinner in this recommended place (can't remember the
name of the little town, but it overlooked the water in Maine,
and I think it cost us $6.00 a piece for that great dinner I
still remember. It was a drugstore recommended by some friends
who had lived there when he was in the Navy... doubt there are
many drugstore diners left; Densow's Drug had one when I first
worked there in high school!!

I hope to make it to see the leaves in New England in fall color
one year too!!!!

A girlfriend is coming back here next week, and I am hoping for
some fall color here as we go to Abraham Lincoln's birthplace
and homestead in Kentucky, and the Falls of the Ohio on the Ohio
Eiver where Lewis and Clark began their epic journey!!

sunny cooler day yesterday for the Alzheimer's Walk!

Re: mad mom

At seven years old the worst was announced by the use of my
full name when my mother called me... DAVID JOSEPH RIVERS meant
immanent death... or worse... anyone else remember that? Funny
thing is, I never... never heard the b-day Bomber's mom call him
by anything less than his entire name plus a suffix! No matter
how mad my mom got did she ever add II to my name... either this
kid was always in really big trouble or his mom just liked the
sound of his full and complete name... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Harvey
Hershel IRBY, Jr. on your special day, October 6, 2015!!!!!!!!
