Now here's something that has always confused me... growing up, before they adopted their growed up names many kids had what phonetically sounded like two long "e's" at the ends of their names... Dickie RHODES ('65) comes to mind... I almost always used a "y" for guys and "ie" for Bomber-babes... then Dickie informed me that since the second grade I had misspelled his name... so is there a Rule like the "i before e... except when not i before e" ... I mean this is portant stuff... tomorrow's Bomber guy uses a y while today's Bomber-babe uses an i... I am sooooooooooooo confused... so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Patti McLAUGHLIN ('65) on your special day, November 16, 2016!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -David RIVERS ('65) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Gerald STEIN ('66) Re: Coach Max Jensen Invite ~ 10/8/16 Tri City Herald The Richland Invitational Cross-Country Meet has been permanently changed to the Max Jensen Richland Invitational Cross-Country Meet to honor Max Jensen for his contribution to the sport. Randy RICE ('73) started contacting previous runners on Max Jensen's teams to see if they could come to the meet to honor Max. When the word got out 20-25 runners responded, and Randy RICE ('73) did a superb job of organizing the surprise for Max at the race and a dinner afterwards. At the race, the runners from Max's previous teams came up in groups of three to embrace Max and let him know what he had done for them. Max gave out all of the individual and team awards after the race. Randy RICE gave an outstanding speech during the presentation of Max's achievements in the sport and how he touched many lives. After the presentation Max signed T-shirts for the runners that came and posed for many pictures. After the race the group went to Dupus Boomers for a celebration dinner, where many of the runners there were able to tell Max how he touched and changed their lives. Letters were read from runners who could not attend. Needless to say it was an emotional time for Max and all in attendance. I would not have missed it for anything as Max Jensen touched me and headed me in a new direction in my life.
