Karl, I second your post about Gordon Pappas. Add to what you
said about him that he found ways to stimulate the best in
everyone. That Good News show he chose for us to perform was
the first show produced on Broadway ever. It set the pace for
all that was to come.

Thank you Gordon Pappas, Thank you to the Richland Board of
Education for providing such wholesome experiences. Also
thanks to Gordon's colleague at Carmichael Jr High, Cynthia
Huckstep, who died a premature death from leukemia. Six of us
ninth graders were her pallbearers. She planted the musical
seeds early on in the district. Both were inspired and
inspiring leaders that any field of endeavor would be lucky
to know in its ranks.

Great to hear from "Pappy" SWAN ('59). It's been a while.

To: George "Pappy" Swan ('59) - and all Bombers who, like me,
loved his elves and dogs and stories

It's so funny (not ha, ha kind of funny -- the other kind)
that your birthday popped up, and then you wrote here in the
Sandstorm.

See, just about three days ago, you crossed my mind (although
we've never met, except here, through our beloved Sandstorm).
I was thinking of writing in to see what ever became of our
elf-befriended, dog loving patriot. Honestly, I thought
perhaps you had passed (although you are too young for that!),
and I had just somehow missed the news.

I too, treasured your wonderful tales of the elf antics, and
the pups. (Can't believe that's been 9 years ago!). Perhaps
your life is too busy for writing much these days. But should
you ever have time again, please know how much your lively and
loving stories -- and your personality behind them -- really
powerfully and wonderfully touched so many of us. I am hoping
there'll be a revival of all that!!

Thank you - and blessings in the year to come!
