Re: Fire

I find nothing good about the fire in the gorge. As much as I
hate the heat... I would take the 101 way over the thousands
of acres of our gorgeous forests being burned and so many
people facing loss of homes, being displaced, future mud
slides, the horrible smoke and air quality. We are packed and
ready to leave if the fire on the Washington side grows. Thank
God it has not at this point. We are located right across from
Cascade Locks and the Red Cross Center is right down the hill
from us. We have watched the trees explode it huge bursts of
flame for the last few nights and the fire jump from ridge
to ridge as it burns and takes out the beautiful mountain
forests. It is terribly sad!!!!!! I would ask for your prayers
that the fireman, the volunteers, and all people in harm's
way would be protected and that the rains come soon as it is
impossible for them to get at some of these fires because of
the high cliffs.

We grew up with Smokey the Bear. Learned every verse to the
song. We had a great regard for our beloved land and our
America. It makes me sick to think that young kids who have
no regard for our land and its laws did this. No, there is
nothing good about this fire!

Re: St John.

Wondering if anyone remembers the wild explorer scout cruise
he led in (I think) my ninth grade year. I wasn't a scout but
got to tag along anyway having had him for speech for two
years.

We left from Fisherman's Terminal in Seattle and went up to BC
as far as Princess Louise Inlet on a converted tug. On the way
back the boat lost its engine crossing George Straits on a
rather stormy night. We were towed in by a ferry. I was up on
deck savoring the experience and avoiding being sick below, no
one else about.

A piece of equipment broke loose, knocked me over and I came
close to going over the rail. Embarrassed I never said a word
to anyone. A near death experience.

Re: class of '67 reunion

I find it odd that the class of '67 is showing on Einan's
funeral service page the details of the reunion next weekend.
I went in to put a note on a friend's page and came across it.
It's none of my business just an odd place to put it I
thought.

[Betti, I looked all OVER the Einan's site and found NOTHING
about '67's 50 year reunion on 9/15 & 16. Maren]
