 http://www.iditarod.com/ - Official Iditarod Site

2018 will be another great Iditorod year. 61 mushers will start
in Anchorage: 12 rookies. 16 women, 45 men, and 4 champions
(Mitch & Dallas Seavey, Jeff King, and Martin Buser). They come

Interesting Iditarod facts:

FIRST RACE: Left Anchorage March 3, 1973. Won by Dick Wilmarth
in just over 20 days.

The Seavey family is a dog racing family.
Dan (Mitch's dad) placed 3rd in the very first race (1973)
Mitch's 4 sons have all finished the Iditarod:
 Danny, Tyrell, Dallas, and Conway

THE MOST MUSHERS - Record 2008 96 mushers left the starting
line... and 78 crossed the finish line... Previously the most
mushers to start was 87 in 2004 and the most mushers to finish
the race was 77 in 2004.

PRIZE MONEY: 2017 first place winner received $75,000.00 and a
Dodge truck. The first place prize money in 1973 was $12,000
