Re: Daylight Savings Time

Sorry to pee in your Post Toasties. I for one have always
enjoyed the summer phenomenon of daylight savings time.
Especially during WWII when it was double. That added hour
or two of daylight did not make the grass grow any faster but
gave me so much more time to enjoy the day. from running thru
the hills near where I lived as a boy to the time I had with
my kids as a young husband and father. and now as I rust away
in my dotage, I dread the dark and dank winter months. when
you get up it is dark and when you go to bed it is dark. But
the sensible side was all the electric power it conserved.
Something they are still seeking ways to do and is still
the cheapest way to save energy. No low current appliance
required; Just get up an hour earlier and use the light saved
in the evening to cut electricity use in home and industry.

I read of how you all enjoyed the staying out till the street
lights came on. Well that added hour was the time you got to
play kick the can or other games. you just did not realize it
was an hour saved by getting up an hour earlier.

Besides the added water the lawn required from that added
hour of sunlight was minimal.

PS : Maren the check is in the mail

-Rex HUNT ('53wb) ~ downtown Hanford, CA (Heifer Dust Capital)
which is not yet dark nor dank.

As a baseball fan, you should know that there is supposed to
be an asterisk (*) by Roger Maris' name when ever mentioning
the fact that he hit one more than the "Babe". As I recall,
the rationale behind that * was that the season was longer
and the purists of the era felt that because Maris had more
chances at bat, he should be "differentiated". Not to mention
all the hate mail that was generated because of the feat.

Re: Daylight Saving Time

Maren: Write you congersperson a strongly worded letter
about doing away with "Daylight Savings" time.

Re: What's it like

Soooooo, the delinquents were having our Saturday breakfast
at the "local" Denny's... there was an ad with a fork
saluting... but better yet, the Special Vets' day celebration
was held on... wait for it... here it comes... you got it...
November 10th... the Marine Corps Birthday... wow... Even
Denny's wants to be in Marines' good graces... I have decided
not to rub it in... But I have always wondered (I have
actually never wondered until someone points it out) what it
must be like to be a younger brother... someone to look up
to, someone to get you outa scrapes... someone to be the
first to make mistakes so you don't have to... and sometimes,
someone to take the heat... today we got one of those special
younger brothers who has always been one of the neighborhood
gang and what a pleasure to have grown up knowing him...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Gerald STEIN ('66) on your special day,
November 5, 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
