Re: The one that got away

Well, I sure hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. Today's
b-day Bomber-babe was the love of my life my Senior year.
After I grageated we got engaged and we thought life would be
all rosy and wonderful. In December '65, her oldest brother,
Jerry (NAB) was killed in a nasty car wreck. I put her on the
train to Puyallup for the funeral to stay with Jerry's wife,
Jean DEMITER ('62). While she was gone my winter coat was
stolen so I was layered to the hilt most of the winter. As I
was waiting for the train, some hobos invited me to Christmas
dinner at the Mission... clearly I was hobo GQ... when she
got off the train, she was no longer the girl I had taken to
Ideeho to wed (on the 4th of July... duh)... she never did
recover and our rosy life was never to be... I kept in touch
with her mother until she passed. One day I got the urge
(very strong) to call. The phone answered and it was the B-day
bomber-babe... she said she was on the way to the funeral and
just had to stop by the house first. As she entered she heard
the phone ring. We were both surprised and she said "David,
as mom passed her last words were 'Tell David I love him'"...
We spent a wonderful week in Santa Barbara years later. She
confessed there were probably 5-6 years of her life of which
she had virtually no recollection. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Nancy
MIDDLETON ('67-RIP) on your special day, November 24, 2017!!!
