Re: Christmas Eve / Christmas Day schedule

Christmas Eve I prepared the 12/25 Sandstorm and put it
in the Q at about 4pm. Since I don't drive after dark, I did
alla that so I could arrive at Stacey's (my daughter) before
the sun went down. This year I only broutht my iPad and
iPhone so I could check email and answer some, but that's
about it.

IF I had explained alla this before, I'm sure David and Tony
would have submitted entries earlier. Sorry about that guys.

Favorite son-in-law, Chris, always requests my Mom's Almond
Rocca Cookies "for Santa":

So I made cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve while they
visited his family "across the Lake" (Lake Ponchetrain).

I like to be there for the annual Christmas Eve reading of
"Twas the Night Before Christmas".. Read from the same book
my Dad used to read to all of us every year.

I also like to sleep there so I can see first thing what
Santa brought. Then we all go to Stacey's aunt's house for
Christmas dinner. I usually bring deviled eggs for that.

Re: the yearly twofer

First-off thanks Jack GARDINER ('61) for the fantastic b-day
shirt... by now you know that my secretary had your address
in Kennewick... so things I've sent you have never made it
(and I've never had them returned???... The delinquents and I
were discussing "hood sleds" the other day... come home with
your jeans ripped from the center seam and your leg cut to
the bone and your mom beating you half to death for ripping
the jeans... Gee mom I think the blood kinda ruined them
too... I remember alla cool things that happened like the
first time you realized you were pretty sure you had finally
ridden your bike on every street in Richland... I remember
that moment being somewhere on the "southside"... maybe even
by Jimbeaux's ('63) who knows... I keep my '64 phone book
handy but never seem to look into it to confirm this or
that... in fact, I've never asked him for the parameters of
the "Southside boyz" neighborhood (sounds like Gangs of New
York)... and it's not cuz we haven't had enuff off the wall
conversations over the years, late at night while the girls
are dancing and we're trying to stay awake or inna morning
mumbling over coffee... how come these questions don't arise
when people are together? dunno... or at 2 am watching
"Gila" while "someone's daughter" is trying on the bikini
underwear she just dropped in to drop off... come to think
of it... we Bombers do get a tad "cultish" when we are
together... if ya ain't from Richland ya just won't get it...
then there are the kids I didn't run with in school that
have become just as close to me as the ones I did and most
of whom I have never met. Some of those kids and I have
become so close you would think we had been together since
kinnygarden... I think of becoming so worried about the
b-day/Christmas Bomber when he took a spill on his motor
cycle... or how bout being concerned about Larry MATTINGLY
('60) and my good bud Chuck LOLLIS ('64) going off and
playing with explosives, let alone matches... our lives are
all vastly different in their specifics and so extremely
alike in the ways we grew up and the things we did... How
many remember Sherwood Forest? I mean several of my friends
called it that but I didn't know everybody did! The flume
(they still do it to this day), sock hops, the stroll, rock n
roll Bomber B-ball, State, the "sandman" Keggars... making
out down where the groves used to be... the "rosebowl"
(don't dig too deep a divot or you'll bring back more than
memories... of course ML ('63) I have no idea what a divot
is tho I do know Van (Grizzly) recently gotta hole in one...
I believe it was the first time he ever dunked)... Hookey
bobbin', mosquito sprayer, Carmichael hill (there may even
have been a school nearby), flat top, the Bomber-Bowl...
ooooooooooooh aaaaaaaaaaaah The rivers, of course, the big
and little pools, jumping off the Yakima bridge and no matter
what she says I did not push Kaye JOHNSTON ('65) off that
bridge... getting a BOWLES ('58) paint job... and on and on,
but one that seg wayz into a kid that has become a very dear
friend over the years... HAPPY BIRTHDAY/MERRY CHRISTMAS,
Larry BOWLES ('64) on your special day, December 25th, 2017!!
