Of course we will add your great grandson, Jacob Norton to
our prayers. Prayers he is doing better already. Prayers for
you and all your family to keep up your strength, as you
struggle to help this young family in their hour of need.

God has done some wonderful things, we pray your great
grandson's healing can be another one.

-Helen CROSS Kirk ('62) ~ Prayers from SE Indiana where we
are enjoying a wonderful 50 +_ degrees November. We
have not had a frost yet, so I still have flowers in
	my yard.

To: Dave HANTHORN ('63)

O man! Dave, you made my day!!!

Tere SMYTH Wilson '65', Maren's sister from the old Perkins
neighborhood, remembers you well and is coming up to see the
show. She'll read today's SandStorm and yelp gladly at the
coincidence.

You played Howard, the 14 yr-old kid with the fishing pole
and rubber worms who opens the show. You also steal the scene
from me when you take the witness stand in the second act.

(W.C. Fields used to say: "Never work with kids or dogs.")
I'll see if I can dig up one of those old programs and take
a picture. There's a poster from that production on the wall
in the upstairs dressing room, I believe--in what used to be
the Stiles family's living room, back when they managed the
Uptown and Richland theaters.

My best to you, Dave,

Richland Players

What follows here is a brief reminder that our show opened
last Friday and will continue the next two weekends, with
added shows at 2pm Sunday afternoon

I'm never sure if people really understand how local theaters
work, generally speaking--how they stay alive. The awkward
little crab dance mating rituals they do to catch the eyes of
potential theater-goers out there in the local pond. You've
seen posters in windows and on walls around, say, Uptown
Richland or on the bulletin boards at Fred Meyers. Well, of
course you have.

Turns out, my special advertising territory for the Players
is the Richland Bomber alumni newspaper. Just sort of worked
out that way--even though I'm honestly and oddly not very
good at it.

My problem is I get too excited and enthusiastic sometimes.
If I'm in the show, or if I really like the show, I can
actually turn people off by wagging my tail too hard.

I used to have the same problem on blind dates in college.
I was often overwhelmed by my own sense of how important it
was to convince my date that I was a thoroughly decent and
clever fella.

Looking back, I cringe with embarrassment over a couple of
those experiences--the look of puzzled sympathy on their
faces. Rather than be impressed, they felt sorry for me.

Over the years, I've more or less managed to outgrow those
behaviors, but this next paragraph might represent a serious
relapse:

I really like this show. It's really a very good show. And I
really want you to come see this show.

There. I said it.

And remember, if you honestly don't enjoy the show, I'll
cover the cost of your ticket. I figure that's the least a
gentleman should do on a blind date gone wrong.
