******************************************** Additional Text for the 08/04/04 Alumni Sandstorm ******************************************** >>From: George "Pappy" Swan ('59) Re: Stand and Deliver To all of you, both Pro- and Anti-Puddle, I say thank you very much for taking a stand. While I may not have agreed with a few comments in the past two days, I was pleased that many took the time to write, voice opinions, and sign entries. I think you all probably realize by now that I have no intention of giving up the fun of writing to and receiving Sandstorm responses. I am having too much fun. I heard from Bombers that I have not heard from for years or ever before and I suspect more may come forth. However, one question still puzzles me about yesterday's Sandstorm? I think it is pretty well established by now that length of entries is not the real issue as some have suggested. Those of us who had some length to our postings were understandably "farmed out" to temporary "e-sites" (due to the capacity of the email version of the Sandstorm) whereas the grumblers who demanded less puddles and more unused space for other Bombers in Sandstorm -- had exceptionally little to say. So, if we quit writing to Sandstorm, who will? Go figure. Case in point: To: Jim Andersen ('61) Well Sir, you addressed me by name yesterday. I guess that entitles me to a response. So, I shall stand and deliver. You stated, "George Swan and John Browne need to get a life and save some print for other Bombers who really have something to say." I yield Sir. Tomorrow, I rest, and the floor is yours. Now, what do you really have to say? Or: Are we not just back to the fact that when some disagree, disapprove, or simply dislike, their only answer is to censure. I think someone needs to get a life all right, but I seriously doubt it is JB or myself. To: my friend, Janet Wilgus Beaulieu ('59) What you went through a while back is similar to what I have experienced recently and actually, today (see above). Let's keep our lives and keep writing to each other and fellow Bombers on Sandstorm (after tomorrow, of course -- see above, again). Make you a deal. I will keep writing, if you will keep writing. George "Pappy" Swan ~ OK, I am resting now (for one day), Shhhhh. ********************************************
