My new chair arrived. I'm still tickled cuz Jim MEFFORD ('54)
sent some extra funds with his subscription $$$ and said the
extra was for "seat belts for my new chair".

Re: for 11/19/21 Sandstorm

By golly! Today is Bruce SCHOENROCK's ('54) birthday. I think
I will wish him a "Happy Birthday!" and hope that he really
enjoys it.

Think it was mighty nice of Jim MEFFORD ('54) to send Maren
funds for a seat belt for her new chair. Hope the fund is
sufficient to include shoulder harness and floatation devices.

To conclude today's merriment let's all wish Treasure Elder
('54) and Gene BARFUSS ('53) a "Happy Anniversary!" According
to the National Enquirer they are still married, which is good
news indeed.

Re: for 11/23 Sandstorm

According to the calendar, this is the day that Jeanette
DUNCAN ('54) hogtied Jimmy MEFFORD ('54) and has kept him on a
fairly tight leash ever since. "Happy Anniversary!"

Re: for 11/27 Sandstorm

I trust you've all recovered from your tryptophan induced
slumber.

There are a pair of Bombers to be remembered today. I don't
know if they ever met of even knew each other. A "Happy
Birthday!" to Gene STEPHENS ('54) and David Rivers ('65
R.I.P.).
By the way, if you are feeling adventurous, stop in at the
Spudnut shop, get a Spudnut alamode and go outside and partake
of on David's bench.

Bob (Mike Clowes) Carlson '54 - at Mount Angel, OR, where the
leftovers just keep coming.

Re: for 11/19/21 Sandstorm

A few Sandstorms back, Grover Shegrud submitted a note about
him selling out in Washington and moving back east.

He also mentioned he and his wife stopped by and saw me here
in Montana.

We sure enjoyed his visit. Most of it was over Dinner and
breakfast as they were here just over night.

We covered a lot of the old school days (at least what we
could remember).. (grin)

I was going to post this picture back when he mentioned being
here, but couldn't find it.

But since then I did and here 'tiz..

Not sure how to send it, But I'm sure Maren will know how to
post it if gets there...

Re: for 11/20 Sandstorm entry

I have always been a proud alum of Richland Bombers but today
I am bursting with pride. My almost 16 year old grandson, Zeke
GLENN ('25), just made the Bomber Freshman Basketball team
after tryouts ended yesterday. I probably only went to 10-15
games the whole time I was in Col Hi back in the early '60s-
sports wasn't my jam back then. Our son attended Richland but
didn't play organized sports so was never a Bomber athelete
but always a proud Bomber. Along comes this handsome 6'2"
young man who lives and breathes basketball and was so happy
to make the team. Phil NEILL ('66) and Jim CASTLEBERRY ('58)
are still coaching I understand, so know he will learn a lot
of good basketball technique and skills in the coming months
and years. Hubby and I have our golden old age free passes to
the games in our wallets and have loaded the schedule onto our
phones so we don't miss a thing. Maybe I'll see one or two of
you faithful Bomber supporters at the games this year. If you
see me, be sure to say hello! Go Bombers!

Just want to remind everyone in Class of '62, our 60th reunion
is scheduled for September 9, 10, 11, 2022. The committee has
been meeting and we will be sending out details in February
regarding costs, hotels info and plans for the weekend. We
have tried to reeach everyone we have addresses, emails or
phone numbers for. If you haven't heard from us, email me at
vkngblumom@aol.com and we will get you some info. You might
want to check your spam folder for a mailing we sent out
around September 20-25. We need as much current contact info
as you can provide-addresses, emails, phone... please!

Sitting here on a drippy grey and chilly morning in Richland.
Looks like a hot chocolate and oatmeal kind of day I'm
thinking. The cold air yesterday brought down the final leaves
on our big October Glory maple that was a gorgeous red beauty
the last couple of weeks. It's time to fire up the sewing
machine and get busy on Christmas jammies for the kiddos.

Might be a good day to go get my flu shot too. We got our
China virus boosters so hope folks are mindful of the
increased risks being indoors more and wear masks. Sure don't
want China Virus but don't want the flu either!!

Like most of the faithful readers of the Sandstorm, it's great
to have Maren back at the computer, sharing our stories and
keeping us connected. You are an angel Ms. Maren!! So glad
your recovery is coming along. Just keep control of that chair
and don't tip over... 🙂

Hoping all out in Bomberland have a wonderful Thanksgiving and
and joyous Christmas season. Wishing you peace.

Re: for 11/19 Sandstorm

Glad to have the Sandstorm back this morning [11/18/21]. Thank
you, Maren!

Yesterday (11/17/2021) was my granddaughter, Sydney JENKINS
('19), 21st birthday! She's working as an intern for Driveline
(a baseball training facility) in Kent, WA. She has just been
offered a position as a trainer at the Toronto Blue Jays
training facility in Florida. She'll head that way in January.

It was also the day that I had a pain blocking device inserted
in my back on a trial basis to help control my back pain.
I'll wear it until the 23rd when it will be removed and a
determination will be made to see if I am a candidate for a
permanent device to be implanted. In the meantime, I'm
limited on what I can do, but I have to try to be as mobile as
possible while adhering to the restrictions on movement. Right
now I hurt from all of the prodding the doctor did while
inserting the probes along my spinal cord, but it is no worse
that what I have been experiencing for some time now. I hope
this works, but I won't know for a few days.

Because of my procedure, her parents and I were unable to
celebrate with Sydney yesterday, but she had been home over
the weekend and we had her birthday dinner and cake then.

We had our first frost of the season yesterday and it looks a
bit frosty again this morning. My cat is trying to decide how
far off the back steps to venture into the yard. I'm going to
sit and drink my tea. Have a great day everyone!
