From one of the year old-timers. Class of '49 and I'm still around. Was
even thinking about the Hi-Spot in one of the old dorms and getting
together for dancing, etc.

	Hi-Spot

Also thinking about the wading pool down at the park.

	Riverside Park, aka Amon Park

Such good memories!!.

So glad to see the Sandstorm in the morning e-mails again. Missed you,
Maren, and all of the lovely people that have something to write about.
Closing down Club 40 year-end books so I can pass the pleasure on to
someone else. Have a deposit to make today and then to send the paper work
over to a dear friend (an accountant) to do the income tax return for
2021. Just wanted to check with you too. Are your fees still at $24 this
year or should I send more so I keep getting the daily Sandstorm? Stay in
good health, we all love you, Maren.

Staying very busy doing bookkeeping for several organizations I belong to.
Also very busy in charity work for Elks and Emblem Club. Going to give it
up tho as soon as I get them over to accountant for year-end taxes for
them. I let H & R Block do mine. That way the IRS doesn't question my
figures when I let someone else do them for me.

Hey all you youngsters out there. Stay healthy and keep sending news into
Maren to keep us old timers informed.

Remarkable how Friday the 13th comes on a Thursday this month; and
just in time for Bill WENDLAND's ('54) birthday. "Happy Birthday!" Bill.

Re: Late Christmas

I am enjoying being here with my son and grandson, age 6 here in
Gardnerville, Nevada.

I love the scenery; we see the snow-covered back of the Sierra Nevada Mts.
All the way to Reno up close, and love the sunshine, it's been almost 65°
twice this week. And roads are clear.

We celebrated a late Christmas Monday nite. [1/3/22]

To: All '64 Classmates

I connected with Maren a few days ago. It was good to hear back from her.
She seems to be doing OK. Even though I mentioned this to her, I thought
I'd also put it in here. I asked her about the Sandstorm and if she was
still going to do it. She said that she would so long as she had FIVE
posts at one time. Right now, she has 4 posts. [Got THREE more today. -
Maren] I guess I'm going to be her 5th post now.

I know we all were devastated when she got the china virus. She's back
enough to be able to continue, but I think it takes a lot out of her.....
that's why she only wants a minimum of 5 posts. The more the easier it is
for her. I have no idea what all she does to get it ready for us. So, step
up and let's get going once again. I really miss the Sandstorm!

[Ya know, I published the Sandstorm DAILY for 22 years.
I'm tired. My brain doesn't seem to be working as
well as it did before the china virus. Sometimes I
find myself just sitting here looking at the
screen and trying to figure out what to do next.
So, no more birthdays/anniversaries. And as I
prepare for the "next" A.S.S., I feel like I need
at least 5 Bombers to send an entry. -Maren]

-Carol CONVERSE Maurer (Magic Class of '64) ~ Kennewick It's suppose to
get a tad bet warmer in the next few days. At least the Arctic
	Blast is gone for now.

Re: Cecil Drotts

I heard from Judy DROTTS Williamson ('59)---Pearl lives in Clallam Bay,
WA---got her current email address and also a phone number, so am hoping
to hear from her soon. And Cecil was their father---he is the same one you
were thinking of and last name is definitely Drotts.

Re: Pearl (Pat) Drotts ('64)

Thanks to all who responded to my request for information on Pearl.

I heard from various Bombers and also her younger brother, John ('69) and
her older sister, Judy ('59). Pearl still lives in Clallam Bay, WA, but
her health isn't very good and she's losing her eye sight. Her husband,
Brian, takes excellent care of her and helps her with e-mail, so am hoping
to hear from her, with his help on the computer.

Re: Gene HORNE ('57-RIP)
http://alumnisandstorm.com/Xtra/Dav/220114-Horne.jpg

Last year, during the hot heights of china virus debates, my old
friend and boxing coach Gene HORNE ('57'), came to stay with me. We
squabbled about face masks and all the rest of it, and then I irritated
him by taking his picture as he sulked over there in his chair about
something rude I'd said to him. I can't remember what.

But last weekend he slipped in the bathtub and hit his head, and
yesterday I got a message from his daughter, Tracy, that he died from the
injury.

	Just like that.

And I've a hundred things to say to him all of a sudden with no way
to say them.

Gene HORNE. Devoted husband and father and trusted friend. If I had
that afternoon to do all over again, I'd let him sit there without a mask
as long as he wanted, and I wouldn't say a thing.
