FROM THE EDITOR: So this waiting for 5 entries isn't working very well.
Only 4 Sandstorms in March and already it's April!! So maybe I send a
Sandstorm on the last day of the month and the rest of the time I wait till
there is an entry from five different Bombers. If y'all don't send an
entry, the Sandstorm is gonna die a slow death!! -Maren

We went to the final production of "The Prude's Progress" here at the
Richland Theatre. No one I spoke to understood a connection between the
title and the content of the play, including myself! However, it did not
disappoint. This was the first time I saw our talented Terry DAVIS Knox
('65) and was delighted with his contribution to the show. Stayed after
to meet him and offer my compliments. Then we went to Mia Casa across the
parking lot and enjoyed a nice meal.

A Landscaper will come tomorrow to check out my thoughts on what could be
done with the corner of Satus and Cowiche. I've done what I could and it
looks pretty dismal. Friday, TJ's General Construction will install new
Laminate on the kitchen counters. I was so worried that I wouldn't like the
Laminate I chose (those little samples don't show much) but when it came
in, I looked at it at Cost Less Carpet and LOVE IT! Chose tile for the back
splash. I wanted to redo Laminate in the main bathroom but decided not to
do it because the prep work would be too hard for me. Maybe they can take
down the 39 X 39 inch mirror and I could do the rest.

Marilyn "EM" De Vine in South Richland where we are enjoying wonderful
weather. Just enough sun and just enough rain to keep flowers
blooming, trees blossoming and leaves budding out real nice.
I'd be happy to do without so much wind, though.

I surely enjoy your entries about your early remembrances of Richland and
the Tri-Cities. I'm sure I had known (and forgotten) that you were born in
Pasco, lo those many years ago!! Haha--yes, Dick, we are among the oldies.
Lucky us! Surely do miss seeing you and Ruth at our defuncted "Class of
'52" Lunches at the Queensgate Sterlings. Maybe we should try those again
when brother Terry gets back from Mexico next month?

to: Helen CROSS Kirk ('62)

Gorgeous photograph of sunset from your deck! Thank you for sharing.

We'll go to the Richland Player's this afternoon. I/we left at the
Intermission at Hanford High School's latest presentation and did the same
at one by the Richland Players many years ago. Hopefully this one will grab
us and we'll get to stay for the whole thing.

Tomorrow the Painters will come and do the outside of the house. Saturday,
we'll get new Laminate on the kitchen counters, the "island" and the
bathroom counter. I hope I like both of these changes as much as I think I
will.

Best regards to each and all,
-Marilyn "Em" DeVINE ('52) ~ n sunny (today) Richland with only a breeze!
Great for walking the dog before we go see "The Prude's Progress".

Here's hoping that a 5th entry is on the horizon. Also, that Maren was not
in the path of any tornado. However, if she lives in a manufactured home
all bets are off.

[161 Briant Street is a single family dwelling where
I have lived for 17 years. I will be moving (UGH) to
a trailer (at 144 Briant Street) in the next couple
	of months. -Maren]

The main purpose of this missive is to wish Judy and Bill Allen (both '54)
a "Happy Birthday!"

He must be smart, he waited until the day following April Fool's to be
born. A "Happy Birthday!" to Lloyd KENT ('54).

Your demographic numbers are really close-the guesstimate that Benton and
Franklin County had 10,000 residents prior to World War II, and now have
300,000.

The total in 1940 was 18,360 (Benton County at 12,053 and Franklin County
at 6,307). In 2019 the bi-county total was reported at 299,612 (Benton at
204,390 and Franklin at 95,222). The Tri-Cities were almost all of this, at
283,846 (2016), and West Richland at 14,495 (2019) for a total of 298, 341.

Not so sure about the above bi-county total, however. Prosser alone adds
6,202 to Benton, and then there's Benton City at 3,373 in 2019. And we
can't forget the likes of Eltopia which adds a whopping 1,474 (2019) to
Franklin County.
