Re: tummy problems

So I found out this week that last November when they screwed up my heart
valve replacement, they apparently caused or invigorated a pre-existing
hiatal hernia. now when I try to consume stuff like rich, corn bread, grits,
cream of wheat etc, It affects (or is that effects) my hernia and I cannot
swallow and other than making me up-chuck half the night, it leaves me with
a terrible indigestion. My diet today was an orange, a tall glass of Clamato
juice with a celery stalk for decoration and a dash of hot sauce. and a
small danish, (where is the Spudnut shop when you need them!) with hot tea.

I am also in a game of hide and go freak out with an acquaintance from
1947. a gentleman I knew for perhaps 6 or 7 months as we went to the same
school. We then relocated To Bakersfield for 5 months then we came to
Washington. Somehow with computer/smart phone he located me and my address
and phone number, He keeps sending me huge letters mostly consisting of
pictures of him in army uniform where he spent some 35 years. He is between
senile and bat sh*t crazy. I cannot seem to lose him. Last Friday, I got a
call from him, which I very quickly terminated. This of course stirred his
thought process and he quickly called the Hanford Police dept and told them
I was having a stroke and he wished them to do a welfare check on me. Now I
have the police dept calling me twice a week for welfare checks.

He lives in Spokane now with his daughter.

If any of you want a pen pal let me know. I will certainly pass that along
to him.

Happy to see the U of dub kicking butt and taking names this year!

Something to warm the cockles of your heart. Last Saturday, I whipped up a
Louisiana Crawfish boil that was to die for. just 3 of us at main meal but I
used 46 pounds of Crawfish, 3 pounds of red small potatoes, 3 pounds of
large shrimp, 9 cobs of sweet corn, 2 packages of Andouille sausage 2 large
onions and 12 small onions. 3 bell peppers of the large size 1 pound of the
small sweet bell peppers, a full stalk of celery, 4 oranges, 6 lemons 3
limes. a 6 pack of 805 beer, and two bottles of wine. I then made a crawfish
Bisque out of the leftovers.. caused a small rush for Old Bay Crawfish
seasoning. Now I am sure this had zero to do with my upset tummy!

Time flies like arrows, fruit flies like bananas

Successful Club 40 on September 8th and 9th. Happy to see at least 12 of our
'54 classmates! Sadly this is the last meeting of Club 40. The 2023 Fall
Dust Storm will officially explain that.

Class of 1954 70 year class reunion in 2024...

Those of you classmates who are interested in getting together next year to
celebrate, please send me your current email, home address and phone. In
case some have changed since I did the 65 year bio booklet. And please send
me ideas you might have where and when you might want to meet. Doesn't have
to be in September. Let try and make our last get together a fun one.. God
willing!

-Marilynn WORKING Highstreet ('54) ~ still enjoying some mild 80s temps

I love finding the Sandstorm in my email box.

To: Em DeVINE ('52)

I hope you were able to meet all your relatives despite china virus reading
it's ill head in your get together.

To: Rex HUNT ('53)

I read about your saga of what has happened in your life and find it a
wonder you lived through it and remember it all. Hanford, California must
have something good for you in the water.

Well, the Club 40 reunion came and went (Sept. 8 and 9) without me, as I
couldn't find anybody who wanted to attend, and I decided after going to see
my grandson (age 8) in Nevada for almost 2 weeks in June and August, I
needed to spend time here and restart my neglected flower garden. And
spending a night in the Dallas airport both coming and going, due to delays
in meeting flights wore me out too. (I need to go back to early am flights
so I have more choices to get somewhere if need be.)

It finally really cooled down here in the SE Indiana. We are moving the 70s
and cooler nights without humidity.

Maren, thank you for again publishing the Sandstorm.

Oh, and congratulations on your award to Terrance DAVIS Knox ('65). You are
giving so much to the drama scene In Richland, wish I were closer so I could
attend.

Re: Last Time Around

Well, I'm not promising, but this might be my last time around with this
physical stuff.

I'm beside Lake Huron in Michigan, filming a '20s gangster picture, and I
do a lot of shooting and killing and fighting and falling down. These are
all things I've been doing for what amounts to a very long time now, and I'd
like to think I'm still pretty good at it.

But, as I discovered during last night's filming, once I fell down, it
was no longer very easy for me to get back up again.

In fact, I couldn't. Not without help, anyway. And that was embarrassing.
Call it pride. Call it vanity, Call it anything you please. But if you have
a fight scene to film that in involves an old guy in a new suit falling down
and jumping back up again, don't call me.
