Diane Schille Lutes - recent

Diane was born September 5, 1935, in Port Blakely, WA, to Peter Nicolai Schille and Clara Bottem Schille and died after a brave 9 month struggle with lung cancer on May 27, 2009.

Diane and her family moved to Richland in 1945 where she lived until the death of her husband, Jerry Lutes in 2001. She has lived in Newport Beach with her daughter, Teena, for the past 8 years. Diane attended both John Ball Elementary School and Columbia High School, graduating in 1953. Then she began work for G.E. at Hanford that same year, retiring as a Planning Analyst after 41 years of service at Hanford in 1994. Diana had worked on Budget planning for the N reactor, among many other tasks over the years.

She married her husband of 46 years, Jerry Lutes, in 1955 and had two children, Jim and Teena, who they raised in their remodeled "B" house in south Richland. She was tireless and devoted wife and mother to her children and grandchildren and a loyal and generous friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Doris Brock.

She is survived by her son, Jim ('74) (Kim), daughter, Teena ('77), and granddaughters, Cora and Stella.

Graveside service was held at Einan's on June 6, 2009.
