James Blake, 78, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013, surrounded by his loved ones.

Jim was born on July 24, 1934, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Kenneth and Gertrude Blake. He graduated from Columbia High in Richland and attended the University of Washington. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Helen Geick. Jim had a 20-year career in the United States Air Force.

After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as a builder and real estate broker in Abilene and Lake Brownwood. Jim enjoyed his family and friends, travel, fishing, camping and hunting.

Survivors: His wife, Helen Blake; their five children, Cheri Whitten and husband, Charles, Mike Blake and wife, B.A., David Blake and wife, Melinda, James Blake and wife, Robyn, William Blake and wife, Kathleen; and 10 grandchildren, Boston, Jackson, Michelle, Travis, Matt, Beau, Olivia, Bridget, Elliott and Spenser.

Celebration of life: April 22, 2013, 1pm at Arborlawn United Methodist Church, 5001 Briarhaven Rd., Ft. Worth, 76109. Interment will be a private ceremony in DFW National Cemetery.
